A GEORGE III BRASS-MOUNTED BLACK AND GILT JAPANNED CABINET-ON-STAND
The cabinet 18th century, the stand early 19th century
The cabinet decorated overall with oriental scenes of foliage and pavilions in landscapes, a rooster and hen, and seated scholars, enclosing an interior of ten variously-sized drawers lined in simulated gilt nashiji, decorated with pavilions, foliage and birds, on a black painted and parcel-gilt stand decorated with Chinese caligraphy and a simulated marble plinth, the drawers numbered one through to ten and one inscribed, 'Nov 1812, LH' and February 18, the reverse of the cabinet also inscribed 'February 1824'
