Modelled by J.J. Kändler and J.F. Eberlein, wearing a chequered jacket with stripes and playing cards, pale-yellow breeches and yellow shoes, seated beside a birdcage on rockwork holding a bird in his raised hand, a cat watching from below, on a mound base applied with flowers and foliage (right arm cracked and restored at shoulder, restoration to right hand and bird, brim and rosette of hat, two fingers of left hand, cat's right ear and applied flowers, some minor flaking to enamels)

Lot Essay

This model was first recorded in August 1743 as 'Einen Arlequin, so einen Vogel in der Hand, neben sich einen Vogelbauer und eine Katze zu Fuessen hat'.
