Lot Essay

The present pair of centerpieces were made specifically to support lemons or other exotic fruits and were probably designed by J.F. Eberlein and J.J. Kändler. For similar examples see Le Pavillion Chougny, A Private Collection, Christie's, London, 9-10 December 2004, lots 408 and 409. Interestingly it is a model that was often copied in Chinese Export wares of the time.
