Contemporary Italian, probably Milanese, vellum elaborately decorated in gilt with fan and rosette designs to the covers and a clover-leaf tessellation to the spine, gauffered edges (a few small puncture holes, a little rubbed), modern cloth book box. Provenance: illegible early signature and faint red stamp on half title -- ?"Tarchini" (signature on front free endpaper) -- modern presentation inscription on front pastedown.
