Vintage note: If the '95s were good, the '96s were even better, wines with extra dimensions, about as good as white burgundy can get. Louis Latour reported very good growing conditions, low rainfall, long ripening period, healthy clusters with sugar levels and acidity high following the coldest September on record
However, having assembled my notes, I am shocked at how few of the '96s I have tasted. I am even more appalled at the number of horrid, raw, poor wines that I come across at trade tastings. Stick to the best négociants and serious domaines. ***** Michael Broadbent, Vintage Wine
