Château Pichon-Longueville, Lalande--Vintage 1989
Pauillac, 2me cru classé. Château bottled
In original wooden case
Tasting note: After a shaky start, a poor cask sample, eight subsequent notes, all good, from a really lovely mouthful, luscious and elegant (Christie's masterclass, March 1995). Later the same month at a comparative tasting in Brussels, softer, richer, more mouthwatering than Palmer. Most recently, still deep but mature looking; marvellous, rich, ripe fruit on the nose and palate. Fleshy, even plump, soft tannins. Last noted at a vertical for France in Your Glass, at Eugénie-les-Bains, Oct 2000 ***** Michael Broadbent, Vintage Wine
