No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VA… Read more FINE BAROLO FROM CORDERO DI MONTEZEMOLO The Monfalletto estate of Cordero di Montezemolo is located in the Langhe region of North West Italy, right in the heart of the Barolo DOCG area. The estate has belonged to the Falletti family for more than six centuries and is now the property of Giovanni and Enrico Cordero di Montezemolo, nephews of the Marchioness Luigia Falletti and sons of Paolo Cordero di Montezemolo. It was Paolo Cordero di Montezemolo that began producing and marketing their wines in 1940 as up until then, production had been destined for personal consumption. Today, the property consists of 28 hectares of vines, which produce the traditional local grape varieties Nebbiolo, Dolcetto, Barbera, and Arneis. The winery has recently undergone investment and expansion, creating the perfect balance between tradition and modern innovation. Their Barolo wines have consistently been highly rated by wine critics the world over. Highlights in the sale include magnums of limited edition Barolo Riserva Gorette from 1998, 1999 and 2000 vintages. This 100 Nebbiolo wine is produced from the prestigious Gorette vineyard only in the best vintages and in a limited annual production of one thousand 1.5 litre bottles. Traditionally these magnums were only sold to visitors to the estate in Barolo, and therefore this sale is a unique opportunity to purchase this Barolo Riserva away from the estate. These magnums are offered in individually numbered wooden presentation cases with a certificate of purchase. Many of their wines in the sale have been awarded high marks by critics. The 1996 Barolo Enrico VI was awarded 94 points by the Wine Spectator. The 2000 Barolo Enrico VI, and the 1997, 1999 & 2000 vintages of Barolo Bricco Gattera were all awarded 90 points or more by the influential American wine critic Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.
