Second edition of Ptolomy's Geographia edited by Giovanni Magnini which was first published in Venice 1596. The maps are exact copies of Girolamo Porro's maps used for the first edition and later Venetian editions. This is the issue without the colophon at the end of the "Index" (corresponding with a copy at Harvard). The double-page world map, bound here as the frontispiece, is a smaller version of Rumbold Mercator's which appeared ten years earlier; later it was used at Arnhem and Amsterdam up to 1642. Alden & Landis 597/57; Phillips Atlases 404 (issue with colophon); Sabin 66493 and 43822; Shirley 201-204.
