Lot Essay

Compare with similar comb-like texturing to the flower petals on two dishes dated to the Song dynasty from the same collection: the first, possibly a stand and designed with peony scrolls, was included in the exhibition, Chinese Lacquerware, The Shoto Museum of Art, 1991, illustrated in the Catalogue, p. 39, no. 36; and the other also from the Lee family collection, with tea-rose scrolls, was included in the exhibition, Dragon and Phoenix, The Museum of East Asian Art, Cologne, 1990, illustrated in the Catalogue, p. 85, no. 29.
