EARLY 17TH CENTURY
With tapering blade of flattened-diamond section formed with a recessed ricasso, large iron hilt of slender rounded bars, including outer-guard of three concentric rings canted towards the pommel, the upper joined by a branch to the knuckle-guard, a pair of long straight quillons, large drop-shaped pommel formed as an openwork cage of spiralling bars enclosing an inner pattern of bars spiralling in the opposing direction, the grip formed en suite, and the hilt terminals and mouldings all of a similar openwork design (light pitting)
