Christie’s charges a premium to the buyer on the Hammer Price of each lot sold at the following rates: 29.75% of the Hammer Price of each lot up to and including €20,000, plus 23.8% of the Hammer Price between €20,001 and €800.000, plus 14.28% of any amount in excess of €800.000. Buyer’s premium is calculated on the basis of each lot individually.

Lot Essay

This hair-work bouquet was made as a gift to the father of Mr. I.W. de Hoog and presented to him on his birthday on 15 December 1871. It has been made as a commemorative piece remembering deceased relatives.
The reverse of the frame is applied with portraits of some of these family members. The printed label is inscribed Dit haarbouquet vervaardigd door I.W. de Hoog Jz. oorspronkelijk aangeboden aan zijn Vader, op den verjaardag van 15 December 1871. Gerestaureerd en met meerdere haarbloemen toegevoegd in de oorlogsjaren van 1914-'15./TER NAGEDACHTENIS van dierbare Overledenen en ter eere van bloed- en aanverwanten.... followed by a list with the names of the family members who's hair has been used in this bouquet.
