Lot Essay

A comparision can be drawn with an allegorical figure on a South Lowlands panel, circa 1520, in The Cloisters Collection, Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. (see Stained Glass Before 1700, Studies in the History of Art, Vol. 39, National Gallery of Art, Washington, 1991, p.147).
