Lot Essay

Dr. Christian Theuerkauff of the Staatliche Museen, Berlin, originally identified the present relief as a work from the circle of Schenck (letter to Julius Held, 21 January 1991). An identical relief is in the collections of the Hermitage, St. Petersburg and another is in the Stift Kremsmünster.
