Lot Essay

This library ladder follows earlier eighteenth century models, such as a mahogany pole-ladder at Temple Newsam House (illustrated in C. Gilbert, Furniture at Temple Newsam and Lotherton Hall, Leeds, 1978, Vol. I, p. 203, fig. 250.
