The bathing sands, Mallorca

In 1930 Cecil Aldin moved to Mallorca on the advice of his doctor who thought the warm climate would ease the pain of his arthritis. He insisted all his dogs accompany him on the trip, although Micky the Irish wolfhound could not adjust to the Spanish climate and died within a year. However, the rest of the dogs spent their remaining years in a studio designed by Aldin at Camp de Mar where they were joined by Don Quixote, an Ibiza hound. Aldin spent his time on the island working on a book on Exmoor, published posthumously, and preparing his reminiscences Time I Was Dead, (London, 1934), as well as designing houses.
