A RARE BROWNISH-OLIVE JADE CEREMONIAL BLADE, YAZHANG
NORTHWEST CHINA, POSSIBLY QIJIA CULTURE, CIRCA 2000-1700 BC
The blade spreading and tapering in thickness towards the curved asymmetrical end that is gently beveled, the other end with pairs of small diagonally-set toothed projections joined by incised lines on both sides with the addition of criss-cross lines on the reverse, all below two larger intricately notched flanges and a hole drilled from one side of the tang which has one diagonally-cut corner, one side very slightly concave and with remains of original cutting mark, the opaque stone of mottled brownish-olive color, with fine satiny polish
