TWO GREEN-GLAZED POTTERY EWERS
LIAO DYNASTY (907-1125)
The larger with globular body decorated with five shell-shaped medallions bordered in 'pearls', below two bands of leaf tips pendent from a triple incised band and repeated on the shoulder, with a short spout issuing from a dragon's jaws and a grooved strap handle applied with a loop; the sides of the smaller ewer with nine vertical panels of stacked rouletted curves below the high rounded shoulder stamped with bands of semi-circles and circles, with a short knife-pared spout and grooved strap handle; both covered with a leaf-green glaze

Smaller ewer: acquired in Hong Kong in 1991.
Larger ewer: acquired prior to 1997.
