A RARE CARVED THREE-COLOR LACQUER QUADRILOBED BALUSTER VASE
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)
Each lobe of the body finely carved through the red and green layers to the yellow-ochre ground with a scene of immortals accompanied by attendants carrying auspicious objects including peaches and lingzhi fungus, all within panels separated by peony scroll, repeated above, below and on the waisted foot, the neck encircled by a band of upright archaistic leaf tips above a narrow band of petal lappets, with bands of key fret at the rims

Compare a very similar, though slightly larger (31.9 cm. high) example, also carved with figures and attendants in landscapes, illustrated in Masterpieces of Chinese Carved Lacquer Ware in the National Palace Museum, Taipei, 1971, no. 32.
