A RARE AND VERY FINELY EMBROIDERED THANGKA OF AMITAYUS BUDDHA
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)
Embroidered in very fine counted stitch technique using colored silk floss on an almost transparent fine silk gauze with the Buddha of Infinite Life seated in dhyanasana on a lotus pod enveloped by the petals of a large lotus blossom borne on a slender leafy stem, holding a blue vase in his left hand, wearing a blue shawl and pale shaded gold robes, with a wan symbol on his bare chest, the face finely detailed with gentle expression below blue hair dressed in tight curls, with an embroidered red seal, Wen Jing Zai (Studio of Calm and Silence), in the original thangka-style brocade mount
