A sandstone figure of Uma
Khmer, 13th/14th century
Sensitively carved with full hips, wearing a long sampot folded in a fishtail at the front, her bare chest adorned with a thick necklace and armbands at the upper arms, her ovoid face in serene expression with finely outlined eyes beneath arched brows and flanked by earlobes with pendant earrings, the hair incised in locks emerging from the headdress
