A GERMAN IRON AND POLYCHROME DECORATED 'ARMADA' CHEST
17th century
Of usual riveted strapwork form, the exterior with dummy pierced escutcheon to the front and decorated overall with flowers and scrolling foliage on a green ground, the underside of the lid with a lock shooting eight bolts and with a pierced engraved lockplate, decorated with a pair of mermaids
18¼ in. (46.5 cm.) high; 35½ in. (90.2 cm.) wide; 20½ in. (52 cm.) deep
