Lot Essay

The clockmaker N. Hohwu (or Höhwü) is most probably the father of the Amsterdam clockmaker Andreas Hohwu, well known for his observatory clocks and chronometers, who was born in Gravenstein in 1803.

The tune selection ring is inscribed:
Nun dancket alle Gott/Besieht du deine Weege/Wer nur den Lieben Gott lat Warten/Ich bin ruhig und zufrieden/Auf meinem Lieben Gott was lobest/Praludium ich singe dir mit hertz u:m.
