The back of this chair has close similarities to a set of chairs at Hampton Court Palace supplied in 1717 by Richard Roberts, Chairmaker to George I and to one in the V & A collections (W.28-1909), illustrated in the V & A publication English Chairs, London, 1970, plate 42
