Lot Essay

Alexander Ney was born in Leningrad and attended the Art School of the Academy of Art, as well as the Art School of the Surikov Art Institute in Moscow. In 1972, he immigrated to Paris and later settled in the United States where he was able to freely create works in which the principles of ancient art are combined with a distinctly modern minimalist aesthetic.
