Bernard (or Bernardus) Van der Cloesen, The Hague, is listed in Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World by G.H. Baillie, Volume 1, p. 324, as "1688-1719. A maker of repute who worked for Huygens". Christian Huygens (1629-1695), generally considered the leading mathematical physicist of his time, patented the first pendulum clock which significantly increased the accuracy of time measurement.
