A VERY FINE AND RARE IMPERIAL WHITE JADE 'BUTTERFLY' MARRIAGE BOWL
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-95)
The deep bowl finely carved around the gently rounded sides with two sets of entwined archaistic kui dragons, supported on four short cabriolet feet, each emanating from a descending bat and interspersed by a cluster of lozenge-shaped medallions, flanked on each side by large butterfly handles suspending loose rings and supported by a hibiscus flower on each side, each flower supporting further loose rings, the stone of a pale even white tone
