Each main face on the lower and upper sections applied with a square cartouche with canted corners, enclosing an elaborate design of birds in flight above crashing waves, and a pond inhabited by mandarin ducks and aquatic plants on a blue basse-taille enamelled ground, all surrounded by a thin band of alternating white and red paste gems and reserved on a bright yellow ground enamelled in the famille rose palette with meandering scrolls bearing various blooms
