A BRONZE RITUAL TRIPOD VESSEL, DING
SHANG DYNASTY (CIRCA 1600-1100 BC)
Finely cast supported on three tall, tapering columnar legs, the gently bulbous body cast with a single band below the slightly everted rim, enclosing stylised taotie masks divided by small central flanges and with raised bosses for eyes, applied on either side with a bail handle, the interior wall cast with an inscription
10 in. (25.5 cm.) high, wood cover with carved jade finial
