AN EMBROIDERED IMPERIAL YELLOW 'DRAGON' CUSHION COVER
YONGZHENG PERIOD (1723-1735)

Of rectangular shape, the cushion cover meticulously embroidered in satin stitch with a frontal five-clawed dragon in the centre in gold-wrapped threads coiled around a 'flaming pearl', surrounded by a dragon in profile at each corner amidst multi-coloured cloud clusters all worked in shades of blue, red, green and cream, all above the terrestrial diagram and treasures among pingshui waves within a band of key-fret pattern in gold-wrapped threads, bordered by elaborate floral scrolls, reserved on an Imperial yellow ground
