A MOTTLED GREY AND BLACK JADE MYTHICAL BEAST PENDANT
MING DYNASTY, 17TH CENTURY
Of flattened circular form, the coiled serpent body carved in relief with scales and stylised scrolls, the dragon-like head surmounted by a single horn, stretching towards its tail, the stone of a greyish brown tone on one side and a deep black tone to the reverse; and a small brown jade toggle carved as a recumbent ram
