Lot Essay

The china-cupboard, with reed-trellised door and china-rail cresting flowered in trefoils, relates to the gothic fashion popularized by George Smith's, Collection of Designs for Household Furniture and Interior Decoration, 1808 (see pl.101); and its obelisk finials are fretted in Elizabethan fashion.
