The attribution has been kindly confirmed by Dr. Hiltraud Doll in a letter of 28 July 1997. She lists two copies after the present picture: on panel, 32 x 42 cm, Anon.Sale, Lempertz, Cologne, 11 November 1959, lot 130, with ill.; Anon. Sale, Christie's Amsterdam, 29 May 1984, lot 7, with ill., as Follower of Adriaen van Ostade; and the other one on panel, 31 x 41 cm, Anon.Sale, Phillips London, 6 December 1988, lot 91, with ill., as to be dated circa 1634.
