A very rare pair of verte-Imari ovoid vases
Kangxi
One side painted in famille verte enamels with a mounted huntsman armed with a spear in pursuit of a rabbit, the other side with a lady in a moored boat observing three fishermen eating fish and rice on the riverbank, divided by underglaze-blue, iron-red and gilt with pendant Buddhistic emblems, ribbons and tassels, the shoulders encircled by petal-shaped panels enclosing each a flower-spray, below a ruyi-pattern band on the short cylindrical neck
