A pair of Imari plates
First half 18th Century
Inspired by 'La Dame au Parasol' after a design by Cornelis Pronk, the central scene depicting a male servant carrying a parcel and a parasol above an elegant lady, the wide rim decorated with cartouches of insects and a bat in iron-red and gilt on an underglaze-blue trellis pattern ground reserved with sparsely painted small flower-heads (rim cracks and frittings)
