A large Longquan celadon saucer-dish
15th Century
Freely incised at the centre with two lotus stems and fluid lotus scrollwork around the well, covered overall with a grey-green glaze with russet inclusions, the base engraved with an Islamic inscription
47.4 cm diam.

Lot Essay

This dish was exported to Persia and was engraved, as was custom, with the name of the owner. The dish was purchased there about twelve years ago and entered a Dutch private collection.
