2 parts in one volume, 2° (549 x 356mm). Hand-coloured engraved frontispiece to both parts, title with hand-coloured woodcut vignette, 27 double-page engraved maps only (of 28) with fine contemporary hand-colouring. Final leaf with map list. (Lacks the map of the Turkish Empire, map of Asia creased along fold, with marginal tear and some spotting at margin, most other maps with variable browning, occasional tears at folds or margins, spotting to frontispieces and title, title repaired at inner margin, text browned, sometimes heavily.) Contemporary Dutch vellum, gilt-panelled covers with floral corner-pieces and central lozenge enclosing ecclesiastical arms, yapp edges, flat spine with repeated rose and fleur-de-lys motif, gilt-lettered in one compartment, gilt edges (slight wear to extremities, ties lacking, headband broken).

The first part of this volume contained 11 maps; besides the general map of Asia, these were of regions in Asia Minor and central Asia, and India. The second part contained 16 maps of China and its provinces and a separate map of Japan. In both parts the maps are embellished with figures in national costume, exotic animals and putti.
