8° (193 x 142mm). Original printed wrappers (spine worn, front wrapper attached with old tape, some staining on wrappers and front endpaper, stamp on rear wrapper). Provenance: Vladimir Nabokov (book label; gift inscription to:) -- Vera Nabokov -- by descent to the consignor.

FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY INSCRIBED TO HIS WIFE, in Russian: 'To Doggie, from the author, VIII 32', and with pencilled minor emendations in a few pages, probably by Nabokov. With a pencilled manuscript leaf from a small notebook, titled 'Glory' and with page references and a note, these possibly in Vladimir or Vera's hand. In the introduction to the English translation Nabokov writes that his novel Glory, 'my only one with a purpose', 'soars to heights of purity and melancholy that I have only attained in the much later Ada'.
