FIRST EDITION IN A FINE BINDING of the supplement to 'the first publication in English devoted to the Athenian monuments' (Blackmer): James 'Athenian' Stuart and Nicholas Revett's epic work by the same title, which was the earliest accurate survey of the Classical buildings of Athens. This supplement 'added substantially to the public understanding of the buildings included' (RIBA), notably the Temple of Olympian Zeus. RIBA 3187; cf. Blackmer 1617.
