AUTOGRAPH COLLECTION. A group of seven letters to Arthur John Cummings (political editor of the News Chronicle) and others, the signatories including Winston CHURCHILL (typed letter signed, 12 October 1953, expressing thanks), David LLOYD GEORGE (two typed letters signed, 27 March 1934 and 6 March 1940, 'there is nothing I should like better than to be interviewed by one of the most brilliant journalists of this day in any land'), and letters to Cummings's mother (the writer W.N.P. Barbellion) from H.G. Wells, J.M. Barrie and Arnold Bennett, 1925, supporting her application for her daughter to attend Christ's Hospital for Girls, and from J.M. Barrie to Mrs A.J. Cummings, 1939 (the letters from J.M. Barrie and Arnold Bennett torn through and repaired with tape). Provenance: by descent from A.J. Cummings. (7)
