Bartoli's opera entitled La Vittoria d'Imeneo, with music by the composer BALDASSARE GALUPPI, was staged in 1750 at the Teatro Regio in Turin to celebrate the wedding of VICTOR AMADEUS III (1726-1796), Duke of Savoy, and MARIA ANTONIA FERDINANDA (1729-1785), Infanta of Spain. The magnificent set decorations were designed by the well-known GALLIARI BROTHERS and are illustrated in the folding plates, and the costumes were designed by FRANCESCO MAININO. Celebrated actors performed in the main roles, including ANTON RAAF in the role of Marte and the famous castrati GAETANO CAFFARELLI in the title role of Imeneo. The Teatro Regio was considered one of the greatest and most beautiful opera houses in Europe at the time, and the performance of Bartoli's play was just one in a series of spectacular events organized in honor of the occasion. Cicognara 1516.
