2o (339 x 233 mm). Engraved frontispiece, one engraved folding plate and 7 engraved double-page plates by KüSEL after BURNACINI. (Some plates trimmed closly, a few repairs.) Modern boards.

Commemorating the opera performed in honor of the birth of JOSEPH (1678-1711, later Emperor Joseph) son of Emperor LEOPOLD I (1640-1705) and ELEONORA MAGDALENA of the Palatinate (1655-1720). The dramatic theatrical sets by MATTHÄUS KÜSEL (1629-81) after LUDOVICO BURNACINI (1636-1707), document his last theatrical work with elaborate decorations even employing Elephants and Camels in the designs. The opera with the libretto by Minato, the music by ANTONIO DRAGHI (1627-1698), and the ballet by JOHANN HEINRICH SCHMELZER was probably first performed in 1667. Of greatest rarety and not in any of the standard bibliographies. Biach-Schiffmann Giovanni und Ludovico Burnacini (Vienna 1931) pp. 118-121 and illustration numbers 34-37.
