Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1985 and its subsequent sale on November 25th of the same year. Further delivered with a Patek Philippe leather presentation box.

To the best of our knowledge the present watch has never before been offered in public.

Patek Philippe introduced the reference 3940 in 1985 and continued production until approximately 2007. The model was originally produced with a snap on back, however due to customer demand, they later created the 3941 with a glazed snap on back. The present watch manufactured in 1985 making it one of the earliest produced.

A similar model is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches, by O. Patrizzi, Volume 2, p. 264, pl. 1114.
