The present watch is a fine example of the renowned reference 1518. This watch comes directly from a descendant of the original owner who purchased the watch in Europe following the war. The dial is very clean and attractive with hard enamel signature still wonderfully raised. The hallmarks to both the side of the case and underneath the lug are still very crisp and the case is full and retains its original proportions and definition.
The combination of the incredibly clean attractive dial, full case with very crisp hallmarks and freshness to the market render this watch extremely appealing to the demanding collector.
In 1941 Patek Philippe introduced the reference 1518 to the market. This now treasured and collectible timepiece was the first perpetual calendar chronograph wristwatch to be manufactured in series by any firm in the world, and remained in production until 1954 when it was succeeded by the reference 2499. Only 281 examples of this renowned wristwatch were made in total, the majority of which were fashioned in yellow gold.
