8 volumes, 8o (208 x 130 mm). Half-titles. 423 (of 425) engraved plates (one folding), all but 2 printed in color and finished by hand, by Lambert jeune after Ernestine Panckoucke and Pierre Jean François Turpin. (Occasional light spotting.) Contemporary brown calf-backed marbled boards, flat spines tooled in gilt and blind with cream leather lettering-pieces (occasional small splits to joints, vol. one with small repair at head of spine, extremities rubbed).
FIRST EDITION. An interesting series, with plates produced during the great period of French color printing. The title appears to have been loosely interpreted and consequently the work was expanded to include grapes, melon, palms, bananas and other interesting, but non-medical plants.
