8 volumes, 8o (223 x 145 mm). Over 1000 color woodcuts, finished with some hand-coloring. Publisher's paper wrappers, paper labels on front covers; original cloth chitsu (some minor soiling).

A Japanese herbal with one index volume, titled in English, listing in Latin and Japanese the plants described in the four Japanese text volumes. The other three volumes contain colored woodcut illustrations, four-to-a page, captioned in western style with Latin names of the plant's genus and species and transliterated Japanese name.
