In-8 (225 x 158 mm). Illustré par Pablo Picasso de 3 eaux-fortes hors texte. Broché, couverture de papier Japon imprimée (légèrement salie).
ÉDITION ORIGINALE. Tirage à 106 exemplaires. Un des 85 imprimés sur Hollande van Gelder, celui-ci le n° 85. Écrite à Quimper, et achevée en 1911, cette pièce en trois actes constitue le troisième volet de la trilogie des Matorel. Elle "reflète la quête mystique de Jacob, et l'on y trouve la trace de ses recherches sur la Cabale et l'astrologie" (Goeppert-Cramer). Comme pour Saint Matorel, Derain refuse d'illustrer ce texte. Picasso est une nouvelle fois sollicité et réalise, pendant l'hiver 1913-1914, trois gravures. BEL EXEMPLAIRE. Goeppert-Cramer 3.
