Lot Essay

Alderney Manor, near Poole, Dorset was rented by Augustus John from 1911 onwards for an annual sum of £50 and he converted the coach house into a studio. Henry Lamb was a frequent visitor there and rented a studio near Stourpaine before buying a house in Poole in 1922. We are grateful to Henrietta Phipps for her assistance with the cataloguing of this lot.
