Lot Essay

The lower stretcher of this table is typical of the work of George Jack and the legs and turned spindles of Philip Webb. An identical table formed part of Morris & Co.'s 1889 furnishings at Bullerswood, Kent. A similar table of green-stained oak was offered as lot 92 in The Best of British, Paul Reeves and Sotheby's London, 20 March 2008.
