Lot Essay

This form of single flap table is believed to be distinctly Scottish. Four tables of very similar design, supplied to William, 5th Earl of Dumfries (1768) for Dumfries House, Scotland were invoiced by Alexander Peter on 31 August 1758, Dumfries House Catalogue, Christie's, 12-13 July 2007, lots 128, 169 and 248.
