CIRCA 1875, THE DESIGN ATTRIBUTED TO THOMAS EDWARD COLLCUTT (1820-1924), PROBABLY FOR GILLOWS
Boxwood-lined overall, with blue leather-lined top above two frieze drawers on splayed legs joined by stretchers, the locks stamped 'Cope & Collinson', one drawer inscribed in chalk 'Brown'
28½ in. (72 cm.) high; 49 in. (124 cm.) wide; 25 in. (64 cm.) deep
Provenance
The architect T. E. Collcutt worked in the establishment of G. E. Street before setting up his own practice in 1873. A writing table of similar design by Collcutt is recorded in Gillow's Estimate Sketchbooks No. 10753.
